Good entry-level co2 pistol
I purchased this a few years ago and have used it fairly extensively. This pistol is good for plinking cans etc but when it comes to targets it lacks the accuracy to be a good target pistol. When firing rapidly, as with other co2 guns, the velocity can vary quite significantly. In terms of pellets, it prefers good quality wadcutters of around 7-7.5gr weight. I have found that much lighter results in wild shots and heavier pellets shoot low. Ensure pellets aren't deformed as they can stick in the magazine and fail to discharge. CO2 consumption is greater than non blow-back guns but the benefit of the added effect of the slide movement to the shooting experience offsets this. I would suggest buying CO2 capsules in bulk to reduce cost and make sure you never run out. Consider using a drop of pellgun oil on the face of the capsule once every few capsules to keep the gun seals maintained. The safety catch is nice and definite, impossible to take off accidentally. Overall the Gamo PT-85 is reasonably priced and operates well. It does however lack serious accuracy and whilst it has enough power to go through a can, it is low enough that it's important to pick targets carefully to avoid the chance of ricochet. Shooting glasses recommended in particular when using co2 guns for this reason. Definitely worth adding this gun to your collection but if your budget extends, consider the Beretta PX4 Storm.
